Update on analog robotics

After a review of “basic electronics”, we are ready to try the basic “555 timer” servo circuit as described by Tom Jenner on You Tube. We were not able to
find any 5.25″ floppy drives, so we purchased a small servo motor from
SparkFun.
We removed motors from: printers, 3.5″floppy drives, DVD’s, and
hard drives. We may be able to create some sophisticated low power,
projects from the hard drive motor.
Hopefully, we will be able to add some pictures, later.

Helping Your Body To Heal Itself

I have watched a documentary called “Food Matters” on NetFlix, twice, so far. It is a great show telling how the food and vitamins we do (or don’t) eat can affect our bodies, both physically and mentally. It is a must see for everyone…that includes you! Get it, watch it, and pass it on to all the people you care about! Pass it along even to the people you DON’T really care about, too…. :) It is VERY informative and makes you feel as if you do have control of your own health! Just “take the bull by the horns” and run with it!

update on fractals (tv antenna)

The simple fractal tv antenna, as found on the internet (instructables.com) is comparable to the RCA amplified tv antenna, in reception. Generally, (the fractal antenna) is better, depending on the location (in the house) and possibly the weather. The big advantage to the fractal antenna is cost, versus the amplified indoor antenna.
Future experiments involve modifying the RCA antenna, for use
on the fractal antenna, and also using a rotor.

Spiritual Practice

“Just because the left brain cannot conceive of infinity, doesn’t mean the right brain cannot experience infinity.”
________________
Definition/Discussion
Spiritual Practice consists of time devoted to the Spiritual Realms.
The Spiritual Realms are not physical and hence cannot be communicated in the Physical Realm. They can only be experienced.
Since the brain has two halves and the left brain is the logical side; it follows, the right brain is non-logical.
Spiritual Practice is a right brain activity. i.e. the Spiritual Realms are emotional/intuitive/experiential.
The results of Spiritual Practice are always an emotional/intuitive experience.
So really, any activity that generates an emotional/intuitive experience of Spirituality can be thought of as Spiritual Practice.
________________
Forms of Spiritual Practice
Prayer, fasting, meditation, good works, chanting, rituals, prostrations are among the most common forms of Spiritual Practice.
Because they are, usually, activities that generate an emotional/intuitive experience of Spirituality.
________________
Observations
I find I do more Spiritual practice when I feel stressed out.
When my wife died in ’07, I was destroyed. Spiritual practice kept me sane.
Spiritual practice kept me closer to the Spiritual Realms and hence, closer to my wife.
And, I was able to draw strength and insight from the Spiritual Realms.

Prayer
In the Christian tradition the most commonly used prayer is the “Our Father”
Examples of prayers: praise, acceptance, thanksgiving, forgiveness, blessing, request, repentance.

What makes a good movie?

Personally I’d rather watch a good movie with subtitles than a poor one in english.
Although, I do prefer poor dubbing to good subtitles.

Film – Screen resolution and Bandwidth

Screen Resoulution
________________
Observations
The typical 1080p computer screen is 1900 x 1200 pixels.
The typical 1080p computer screen has about 100 pixels per inch, or, 100 dots per inch (dpi)

The following are my guesstimations:
DVD resolution is 480p-640p
VHS resolution is 320p-480p
8k digital film is like IMAX
________________
Results
If a 1080p screen is 1900×1200 and has 100dpi then the screen would need to be at least 19×12
A 19×12 screen would need to be at least 22″ diagonal (using Pythagorus’ theorum)
________________
Questions
How many dpi in the various film sizes?
Based on recent experience I would say 35mm film is close to BluRay, maybe around 2000 x 1200

Bandwidth
________________
Definitions
In this context I’m defining bandwidth as the screen resolution times the frame rate.

________________
Observations
A T1 connection (1.54 MHz) is sufficient to watch streaming video at 720p.
BlueRay is about 1080p at 60-120Hz

________________
Results
2DO

________________
Questions
How much bandwidth would you need to display 8K, 3D digital media at 120 Hz?
How much bandwidth can an HDMI cable carry?
